Welcome to Carbones Pizza, a cherished gem nestled in the heart of St. Paul, Minnesota. Located at 1698 Randolph Ave, this family-owned restaurant stands apart from the chain Carbone's, offering a truly unique dining experience.

Carbones Pizza beckons pizza lovers with its legendary Minnesota tavern-style pizza, described by patrons as absolutely fabulous. With rave reviews highlighting the rich, flavorful offerings, it's no wonder that return customers can't help but fall in love all over again. One visit to Carbones and you might find yourself reminiscing along with Rebecca Erickson, who fondly recalls introducing her children to the "best pizza in St. Paul" — a place where families create lasting memories over delicious meals.

The atmosphere is inviting, designed with comfy seating that invites diners to linger longer, making it an ideal spot for family pizza nights. While the pizzas steal the spotlight, don't overlook the infamous cheese bread that's considered legendary by regulars. The generous amount of gooey cheese paired with homemade marinara sauce creates an appetizer that's hard to resist.

Recent renovations have transformed the interior into a bright and modern space without sacrificing the familiar charm that loyal customers cherish. Lee Troska's review perfectly encapsulates this sentiment, as he expresses relief that the pizza remains as scrumptious as ever, even after the remodel. The welcoming bar area also enhances the dining experience, making it a spot for both casual outings and special occasions.

While every dish served at Carbones Pizza has its merits, Eric Thompson captures the essence of their Minnesota tavern pizza with his enthusiasm, reinforcing its reputation as the “absolute favorite.” Each square cut pizza boasts a perfectly balanced flavor profile, and the pepperoni is respected for its sharpness without compromising on easy enjoyment. The mix of quality toppings and fresh ingredients has pizza connoisseurs coming back time and time again.

Service at Carbones Pizza has been consistently praised. Friendly staff ensure your visit is smooth, as Benjamin Barger discovered on his first trip to Minnesota. Such warm hospitality complements the tasty menus and often sets the tone for the cheerful dining experience.

Of course, perfection is a pursuit, and while customers raved about the dishes, a few critiques emerged—like the experience with the buffalo wings feeling a bit chilly. However, it is the overall passion for quality pizza and comfort food that keeps this local institution thriving.

As you embark on your pizza journey at Carbones Pizza, remember to soak in the atmosphere, indulge in the mouthwatering dishes, and embrace the warmth of a locally loved establishment. Whether you're a long-time fan or a first-time visitor, Carbones Pizza promises to satisfy your cravings and leave you wanting more.

Pizza was great! Only thing that wasn't super great was the buffalo wings because they were cold but great flavor.

I grew up near here and I remember coming here as a kid. When I heard it was being remodeled, I thought they might be ruining an institution, but this place has been totally transformed for the better after the remodel. However, the pizza is the same and as good as ever. Love the new space with the bar! I will definitely be back.

Great food loved it just was really disappointed when the waitress tried telling us that that they didn’t serve fountain drinks and tried sticking us with 20oz bottles to charge us extra

Wow, if you haven't tried this gem, you're missing out. Carbones Pizza on Randolph is family owned and shouldn't be confused with the chain Carbone's. On Saturday I was hungry for pizza and realized we hadn't been to Carbone's in nearly 15 years. We used to go often when we lived nearby. That settled our decision to see if it was as good as we remembered. We sat down and a server was at our table about 1 minute later asking if we would like anything to drink or had any questions. We ordered the Italian cheese bread with sauce as an appetizer and a 14 "thin crust pepperoni pizza. My husband also had a Surly Furious. The cheese bread ... Oh yum. So much cheese! No, really- they do not skimp on the cheese here. The homemade marinara sauce has a wonderful tangy bite to it. Really delicious. Our pizza came out just after we finished up our appetizer. It was divine. Why? The pepperoni had flavor and wasn't soggy, there was a mild kick to the pizza- not spicy, just a nice zip that hits your tongue and is so so perfectly right, and again there is a wonderful amount of cheese. Oh, it's also cut in squares which is awesome. Service was fabulous and friendly, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the food was outstanding. Accessibility: Be aware that parking is limited. If you're in a wheelchair, try to get dropped off at the alley near the little parking lot if traffic allows so there's room for your chair to exit. Seating is excellent for wheelchairs. The tables are fully open underneath so even rigid wheelchairs with fixed footplates can pull fully in. There is room to navigate the restaurant in a wheelchair. I didn't go into the bathroom in my chair so can't comment on that. I was able to get in the main door in my chair but there is signage leading wheelchairs to the secondary door which did look easier to navigate. It is about 20 feet from the first.

First time in Minnesota so it was my first time ordering from here. The service was awesome as soon as I walked in I was greeted. My order came out in a reasonable time. The food was delicious! If you are ever in the area I would recommend this place.
